I have worked in the online space for several years now and I find that I am working more and more within the creative space.

Many of my clients are creatives and the link between what they do and business is so very much woven together…

Let me explain a bit more…

Creativity and business may seem like two completely different worlds, but they are actually more intertwined than one might think. While business is often thought of as a practical and profit-driven endeavor, creativity is an essential aspect of building a successful and sustainable business.

Whether you’re a freelance designer, a writer, or a musician, and artist or whatever your area of creativity, there are several key ways in which creativity can help you succeed in the world of business:

  1. Differentiation: In a world where there are so many businesses competing for attention, creativity can be the key to standing out. By infusing your brand, products, or services with a unique and creative perspective, you can differentiate yourself from the competition and make a lasting impression on your target audience.
  2. Problem-solving: Creativity can be a powerful tool for problem-solving. When faced with challenges in your business, a creative approach can help you find unique solutions that others may not have considered. Creative problem-solving can help you navigate through difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and make your business more agile and adaptable.
  3. Innovation: Creativity can drive innovation, which is critical for businesses looking to stay ahead of the curve. By continuously exploring new and creative ideas, you can develop innovative products, services, and business models that will keep your business relevant and competitive in a rapidly changing marketplace.
  4. Collaboration: Creatives are often adept at collaborating with others, which is essential in any business setting. By working with other creatives, or with business-minded individuals, you can bring together a diverse range of perspectives and expertise to create something truly special.
  5. Branding: Creativity is an essential aspect of building a strong brand. From your logo and website design to your marketing campaigns and social media content, creativity can help you craft a brand identity that resonates with your target audience and builds a loyal following.

Of course, being a creative in the business world also comes with its challenges. For one, creatives may struggle with the more practical aspects of running a business, such as finances, marketing, and business growth.

Additionally, there is often a tension between the desire to create freely and the need to deliver on business objectives.

To succeed as a creative in the business world, it’s essential to strike a balance between these competing demands. This may involve seeking out mentorship or business training to build the skills you need to succeed, as well as prioritizing your own creative vision and voice.

In conclusion, creatives and business are not mutually exclusive. In fact, creativity is a vital ingredient for building a successful and sustainable business in today’s rapidly changing landscape. By embracing your own creativity and finding ways to infuse it into your business, you can build a brand and a legacy that truly stands out.

This is why I love working with creatives. I have the knowledge to help them with building those all important solid foundations that keep the glue in place allowing them to build on the creative side of their business.

This is where my ‘Future Firm Foundations’ was born from.

Creativity and business are very much intertwined indeed!
